About the gardener

Chris Chung is a Vancouver-based horticulturist, author, and educator. She trained at UBC Botanical Garden where she later served as Program Coordinator and instructor for the Horticulture Training Program.

She has taught urban food production courses and provided hands-on training in ecological garden management. Focusing on unique perennial edibles, Chris explores how multi-purpose plantings can be practical, beautiful, productive, and supportive of nature in both edible and ornamental landscapes.

Grow Layered Gardens

No matter the size of the area you have to work with, there are so many reasons why you should turn your garden space into a layered edible garden. These range from practical matters—such as using space more effectively and reducing the amount of work your garden requires—to the intangible ways it can expand your world, help you make new friends, and build quality time with your family.
